Ramona Heinlein is a writer, art historian and editor based in Vienna. She received the Prize for Young Art Criticism of AICA Austria in 2022. Currently, she works at Secession and as a lecturer at Kunstuniversität Linz, while regularly writing essays and reviews for publications and magazines like frieze or Texte zur Kunst. She studied art history, philosophy, and curatorial studies at Goethe University Frankfurt and Städelschule, and has worked at Kunsthistorisches Museum Vienna, Kunsthalle Wien, Ludwig Forum für Internationale Kunst, MMK Museum für Moderne Kunst Frankfurt, Kunsthalle Nürnberg, and basis e.V., among others. She curated the exhibition "The Invention of the Neue Wilde. Painting and Subculture around 1980" at Ludwig Forum in Aachen and is the editor of the research publication of the same name. Her scholarly focus is on painting and drawing theory.
